Same day surgical treatments – The Iredell Surgical Center is a licensed ambulatory surgical center, approved by both federal and state agencies. This means that our patients are able to return home the same day that they receive surgical treatment. Outpatient procedures provide greater efficiency, convenience and lower cost. Surgical patients are able to recuperate at home in a comfortable and familiar environment.
Orthopedic
Examples of some common orthopedic procedures we perform:
- Carpal Tunnel:
A surgical procedure done to relieve the pain associated with carpal tunnel syndrome, a painful progressive condition caused by compression of a key nerve in the wrist.
- Trigger finger:
Trigger finger is a common problem that causes inflammation, pain and snapping of the tendons in the fingers or thumb. In serious cases, a patient may have difficulty closing their fingers into a fist.
- Knee Arthroscopy:

Ears, Nose, and Throat
Examples of some common ears, nose, and throat procedures we perform:
- Tonsillectomy and Adenoidectomy:
A surgical procedure to remove Tonsils and Adenoids for enlargement that has blocked the airway or recurrent infections not responsive to antibiotics. This procedure is most commonly performed on children.
- Ear Tubes:
A surgical procedure to place tiny tubes or cylinders through the eardrum. This procedure is most often performed on children with persistent repeated middle ear infections.
- Endoscopic Sinus Surgery:
Endoscopic surgery on sinus tissue is performed with the use of a very thin fiber optic tube, or scope, which allows direct visual examination of the sinus openings with state of the art instruments and microscopes viewed in High Definition. This allows removal of abnormal and obstructive tissues while preserving normal tissue.
General Surgery
Examples of some common general surgery procedures we perform:
- Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy (Gallbladder):
Surgery performed through several small incisions in the abdomen has become the first choice of treatment for removal of the Gallbladder. The small incisions allow the insertion of operating ports (small cylinders approximately 5mm in diameter) into the abdomen. Operating instruments and a 5mm scope can be inserted through the ports. The scope is attached to a state of the art camera which allows the surgeon a close up high definition view of the organs and tissues.
- Breast Biopsy:
A surgical procedure to remove a sample of breast tissue. This tissue is then sent to a lab for further testing.
Podiatry
Examples of some common podiatry procedures we perform:
- Bunionectomy:
A surgical procedure in which the doctor removes a swelling or thickening, called a bunion, usually at the base of the big toe joint. Bunions can be mild, moderate or server in nature.
- Hammertoe Repair:
A surgical procedure for a toe that is in a painful or awkward position. The repair is done by re-aligning, removing or fusing the bones.
Ophthalmology
Examples of some common opththalmology procedures we perform:
- Cataract Extraction with Insertion of Lens:
Surgical procedure to remove the lens of the eye which has become cloudy, causing blurred vision or glare. The lens which is normally clear focuses light into the eye for clear vision. An artificial lens in inserted into the eye to restore vision replacing the cloudy lens or cataract. The patient may or may not need corrective glasses.
